Unit Overview

• Three dimensional models provide a basis for many interesting math, science, and design experiences.  This card modeling unit provides a unique way for students to explore a variety of geometric concepts that reach out from the traditional two dimensional models typically used in instruction. 
• This flexible system allows students to explore area, perimeter, and the properties and concepts of solid geometric shapes.  It provides an opportunity to scale and compare the various sizes of planets within our solar system, and to make proportional comparisons of the distances between the planets in the solar system and the distances of objects here on Earth.

Scheduling and Science Kit Ordering Information

• This unit may take from a day if you choose to use only one of the measurement activities to the entire year to complete depending upon the goals of the teacher and the interests of the students.
• Teachers in Cattaraugus and Allegany counties request the kits from us, and the couriers deliver the kits to the schools.  Teachers have up to six weeks to complete each of the learning experiences.  Once the teachers complete the learning experiences provided with the math and science kits, the kits are then sent back to us so we can refurbish them and send them out again when they are requested.  **If you need additional time to complete your kit, please contact 716-376-8272 so we can accommodate an extension.
